What “mobile battery service” means

A traditional battery shop makes you bring the car to them, which is exactly what you cannot do when the battery is flat and the car will not start. A mobile battery service works the other way round: we bring the service, and the battery, to you.

That means the whole job happens where your car is:

  • We test the battery first. Not every no-start needs a new battery. Sometimes it has just run down, or a terminal has corroded, and a jump-start or a clean connection fixes it. We check before we recommend anything, and we tell you honestly which it is.
  • We carry batteries to you. If the battery is genuinely finished, we bring the right one and fit it on the spot, so you do not have to source it, collect it, or make a second trip.
  • We fit it properly. The new battery is installed, the terminals cleaned and secured, and we make sure the car starts and charges before we leave.
  • Warranty included. The replacement battery comes with its manufacturer warranty, the same as you would get from a shop.

When you need a battery replacement, not just a jump-start

A jump-start gets a car going once. If the battery is genuinely at the end of its life, it will strand you again, often within days, and usually at the worst moment. The signs that a battery needs replacing rather than just charging are worth knowing:

  • It keeps going flat. If you have needed a jump-start more than once, the battery is finished, not unlucky.
  • Slow cranking that comes back. If the engine turns over slowly on cold or damp mornings, recovers for a while, then does it again, the battery is losing its ability to hold charge.
  • It is more than three years old. In Sri Lanka’s heat, a car battery that might last five or six years in a cooler country usually gives three or four. Past three years, it is in the second half of its life.
  • It died after standing. A battery that will not recover after the car has stood for a few days has lost its reserve.

Hybrids are worth a special note: on a Vezel, Aqua, Prius, CHR or Fit, it is nearly always the small 12V auxiliary battery that strands you, not the large drive battery. That 12V battery is a straightforward replacement, and it is a job we do often. Many hybrid owners are relieved to learn the fix is simple and affordable, not a new drive battery.

  2. We confirm the price before we set off. No surprises. If you need a battery, we tell you the total, fitted, before we come.
  3. We come to you and test. We check the battery and the charging system on the spot.
  4. We fix it. A jump-start if that is all it needs, or a new battery fitted there and then if it is finished.
  5. You pay once it is done. Once your car is running, not before.

What it costs

We confirm the exact price before we set off, so you always know the total before we come. A battery replacement is the cost of the battery plus a fitting and call-out charge, and we tell you both up front. There are no hidden extras, no charge for the test, and no charge if a simple jump-start is all that is needed.
